The purpose of the Region 9 Area Bureau on Aging is to plan, coordinate and develop a comprehensive service commitment arrangement for the elderly within its planning and service surface area.

Long Term Intendance Ombudsman Plan

This program provides information and education to families and individuals about long term intendance facilities and services. The Ombudsman investigates concerns and helps facility residents, families and friends to resolve problems dealing with quality care, residents' rights and state regulating services. The Ombudsman and Ombudsman Volunteers human action as a liaison betwixt residents, care providers and country regulatory agencies. The Medicaid/Medicare Help Program (MMAP)

A hotline for Medicare beneficiaries and their families to access well-trained volunteers who assist with understanding Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, coverage, medical bills, supplemental and long-term intendance insurance. In-Home Services

These services include homemaking, Personal Intendance, Home Delivered Meals, and Respite Intendance are sub-contracted to local service providers. Recipients must encounter the sixty years of historic period requirement or be the spouse of someone 60 years of age or older for home-delivered meals. Persons requesting ane or more of these services must possess a need for assistance with certain activities of daily living. There are no income guidelines to receive services, however, donations and cost sharing are encouraged to assist maintain the program. Congregate meal sites are located in all twelve counties served past the Expanse Agency on Crumbling. Local Senior Centers are the focus for providing these daily, nutritionally balanced, meals to individuals. Participants must meet the 60 years of historic period requirement or be the spouse of someone 60 years of age or older. This programme provides information and services to family caregivers who are caring for someone older than age 60, or the grandparent(s) and other relative caregivers over the age of threescore who are caring for a child age eighteen or nether. Priority will be given to those in greatest social and economic need with particular attention to low-income, older individuals. Adult Mean solar day Care Service Program

Elder Abuse Prevention

Senior Customs Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

A community service and work-based training program designed to promote economic self-sufficiency for older workers. Participants are assigned to piece of work at one of a multifariousness of non-profit or government agencies that have entered into a piece of work agreement with Region 9 AAA.  Plan training is designed to provide skills that enable participants to obtain unsubsidized employment. The programme requires that participants exist at least 55 years of age and have a family unit income of no more than 125% of the federal poverty level, and be currently unemployed. Customs Based Care Services

Care Management (CM)

A service designed to locate, mobilize and manage a variety of home care and other services needed past frail elderly persons, aged sixty and older, at adventure of nursing home placement. A toll sharing fee scale is an element of the program, however, service will not exist denied if the person is unable to pay.

The MI-Choice Waiver Program

This plan is designed to allow persons who are eligible for Medicaid-covered nursing home services (anyone historic period 18 and older) to remain in their own home with the same level of intendance. Clients must be medically eligible for nursing abode placement and financially eligible for Medicaid based on 300% of SSI and assets of $two,000 or less per individual. The waiver programme is available in Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Crawford, Cheboygan, Iosco, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle and Roscommon counties.

The Michigan Assistive Applied science Loan Fund (MATLF)

Personal Action Towards Health (PATH)
